In a safe, supportive environment and being culturally connected will provide Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal youth a sense of community. It will encourage them to discover their own strengths, develop a sense of competence and self efficacy, connectedness, compassion, respect, belonging and responsibility by understanding more about their own and other’s cultural traditions and beliefs. By providing events that include: healing sweat lodge and pipe ceremonies and dance, native beading, drum and regalia making, traditional garment making and more, Aboriginal Programming will encourage youth to have a better understanding of thier cultural roots and allow them to share and experience these with their peers, allowing them to have a sense of pride and enhanced cultural identity.
